how sponsorship works

The cost to sponsor a child is $930 AUD each year.

Your contribution will go into our Education Fund, which grants scholarships to destitute children living in remote areas.

The Education Fund pays for your sponsored child to attend boarding school and covers tuition, uniform, books, stationery and other costs such as school development fees, warm clothing and shoes.

Boarding costs include hostel accommodation, meals, bedding, health care, toiletries and a little pocket money. Basic transport costs are also covered so children can return home to their families during the winter break.

The design, development, implementation and monitoring of our school program and learning initiatives are paid for by the Education Fund, which meets these costs from the child sponsorship program and general donations.

In sponsoring a child, we deal with and pay the schools directly. No money will ever change hands with the families.

The schools we work with are all reputable and professionally run private schools with a comprehensive education syllabus focused on preserving and cultivating local culture, traditions and the Ladakhi mother tongue.

what you will receive each year

The children love writing letters. Even more, these boys and girls love receiving them.

Each year you will receive a letter from your sponsored child letting you know how they are going together with drawings, their exam results and a photo.

We really encourage you to write back and be part of their lives. As well, we really hope that one day you will be able to visit.
